About Lori

The Inside Scoop…

Author of Grumpety Groo, a BEST SELLER and “a delightful children’s story!”

Lori Grezeszak grew up surrounded by the beauty and quiet wonder of a Michigan farm, where she climbed trees, read books, and watched the natural world come alive around her—moments that continue to inspire her stories. With a master’s degree in education, she spent many years teaching, including time spent living and teaching in China. Lori believes every child is a gift, and she writes to encourage them to laugh, dream boldly, and discover the magic within themselves. When she’s not crafting lyrical tales, she enjoys time with family, travel, fitness, and woodworking (while secretly dreaming of one day working with giraffes). She divides her time between Michigan and South Carolina, where she lives with her husband and Siamese cat.

I love children’s stories that rhyme, are silly and fun to read, and yet teach a child about important things in life. When they are little, children need to be taught how to handle so many things, including their scary emotions. I know that stories, whether on a screen or in books, have a great impact on our children. Let’s give them good ones to grow up with!

Why did I write Grumpety Groo?

Why Story Time Tree?

When chores were done, my sisters and I would climb one of our favorite trees and read a book, often watching deer or other wildlife browsing below. We had a 400-acre farm to explore, but we could go anywhere in the world through stories!

Story behind the logo—Catalpa trees lined the property in front of our farmhouse, and we spent hours climbing, swinging on homemade rope swings, and collecting bouquets of beautiful sweet-smelling white flowers from the catalpas when they bloomed. (I now have catalpa trees planted along the road in front of our house).

Also, trees have been a consistent theme in my life. My current home has cedar trees for pillars holding up the upper level, and the interior is all wood. I designed a unique feature into our bathroom with branches that were part of the large oak tree that was taken down on the spot where our log home was built. I enjoy creating my own tables with cedar tree stumps, and build pretty much anything with wood. Thus, Story Time Tree seemed like the perfect name!
